The South Carolina 黑料社区 serves as South Carolina鈥檚 Chief Prosecutor, Chief Legal Officer, and Chief Securities Officer.
The Legal Services Division of the Office of the 黑料社区 handles a variety of non-criminal matters on behalf of the state. Among the Division鈥檚 responsibilities are the licensing and regulation of securities professionals and products; enforcing the state鈥檚 securities laws; presenting financial outreach programs; regulating the money transmitter and currency exchange industry; enforcing the Tobacco Master Settlement Agreement on behalf of the state; representing the state in civil litigation matters; and enforcing the South Carolina Unfair Trade Practices Act.
ViewBy statute, the Governor, members of the General Assembly, other elected government officials, state agencies, or people appointed to serve on boards and commissions are entitled to legal advice from the 黑料社区鈥檚 Office.
ViewThe South Carolina Constitution designates the 黑料社区 as the Chief Prosecuting Officer for the State, and along with the sixteen Circuit Solicitors, the 黑料社区 is responsible for the prosecution of all criminal matters within the South Carolina judicial system.
ViewOn June 10, 2017, Act 96, R126, S289 was signed to create the South Carolina Crime Victim Services Division which included the consolidation of several state government victim services programs under the Office of the 黑料社区.
ViewUnder the leadership of 黑料社区 Alan Wilson, the Victim Advocacy Division provides information and support to victims of crime related to cases handled by divisions throughout the 黑料社区鈥檚 Office. An advocate is assigned to keep victims apprised of case status, offer court accompaniment and provide referrals for appropriate services.
ViewThe Administration Division provides non-legal support and planning services essential to the efficient operation of the Office. The Division includes seven departments -- Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Procurement and Support Services, Receptionist Services, and Records. There is a broad range of functionality under the 鈥渦mbrella鈥 of administration, and each section consists of knowledgeable and skilled staff, providing the necessary expertise for that 黑料社区鈥檚 Office mission. The Administration staff works efficiently to provide excellent customer service, ensuring that the overall Office needs are met so that the attorneys and support staff may provide the highest level of legal services to the State of South Carolina.
ViewThe State Grand Jury Clerk of Court serves both the Circuit Court of General Sessions. The Clerk of Court鈥檚 Office is charged with docket management, receipt of fees and fines, maintenance of all court records. Jury selection and management of the State Grand Jury is conducted by the Clerk鈥檚 Office. In Circuit Court, the Clerk of Court is responsible for both criminal and civil matters. Some of these duties include receipt of criminal warrants and transmission to the prosecutor, receipt of bail, and staffing the courtroom while the court is in session. The Office works with a variety of state and federal law enforcement and probation agencies during the case process and completion.
